Nigerian international superstar, Wizkid has released a brand new single titled, “Smile” featuring American songstress, H.E.R. Following a brief hiatus from the music sphere, the singer has returned and not empty handed but with a truck load of potentialities. The song “Smile” is a track off the singer’s most anticipated album “Made In Lagos” and it further serves as a follow up for the singer’s previously released project titled “Soundman Vol. 1” EP.
Whoever picked the record is smart because they realize that if Wizkid will have a better chance at an international market – than he had with Sounds From The Other Side – the music has to be natural to him. The reggae rich tune embodied with thick guitar disparities and a serene environment to capture and inspire and inspire lyrical prowess. The song has the potential to appeal to the staunch loyalty of music lovers, but it is unlikely to really shift the ground and become a hit. Moreover, H.E.R who is the featured artist doesn’t have the biggest draw for the Nigerian mainstream.
Wizkid has managed to redefine his craft as he has over the years proven his rebellion to pigeonholed sort of music. H.E.R carried herself amazingly on this track and averted any distraction of some kind and delivered expletive vocals on the rhythm. The R&B/soup act is a worthy add on this piece as she adds a sort of pop edge to this tune. Happy birthday Starboy.
