On this edition of What’s Next?, the singer describes the nature of her musical journey and what lies in wait for her.
Faith K
Who is Faith K?
Faith K is an upcoming 24 year old R&B and Hip Hop artist born in Soweto, South Africa and raised in Centurion. I’m one person I know who’s always full of energy. If I’m not making music, then I like to kick it with my friends.
What has your musical journey been like? Your inspirations and challenges?
My music journey has been a rollercoaster ride, no day has ever been the same. I’ve faced a lot of challenges, like trying to get my music to get radio play, getting paying gigs and so on. A lot of fighting had to happen for people to understand that there’s no getting rid of me..haha (laughs).
We haven’t heard much from you since the release of “Roof” in January. What new project should we anticipate?
I just dropped a new single titled Champ in July and a project in the middle of women’s month. The silence and break was definitely needed to bring this side out of me.
You just signed a major deal with Warner Music SA. What are your prospects from that alliance?
Yea I recently signed with WMSA and I’m excited for the journey. I’ve always wanted to be signed to a label that would help me crossover into the international market but first we take over South Africa.
What advice do you have for upcoming and aspiring artistes?
I know it’s cliche but don’t be anyone but yourself, the industry can swallow you if you are not surrounded by the right people. Personally, I have people that look out for my best interest and that’s helped me stay focused on the music, it’s been working for perfectly for me.
