Oscar winner, Sam Smith on their new number, “Diamonds” lets go of material love and a greedy lover who wanted them for the glitz and the glamour as opposed to who they really were. They’ve given us so many hits, whether it was years ago with “Stay With Me,” last year’s “Dancing With A Stranger” with Normani, or just now with their brand new song “Diamonds.”
Commenting on their consistency in the studio, they said: “Every time I went into the studio I promised myself I would shoot for the stars and have no limitations…I am sorry it’s taken a while. But these unprecedented times gave me the room and space to fall in love with these songs all over again…After it all I still believe love is the answer. And with love in our hearts and kindness in our words and actions, we sing on.” Sam Smith said.
The singer had at one time come out to plead that he’s identified as a plural pronoun. They come out as non-binary stating: “I’m not male or female.” “Diamonds” is a single off their upcoming album Love Goes. It’s catchy and shows off their unique voice that perfectly transmits the vulnerability of the song. And guess what? We also got a video for the song! It shows Sam going through many emotions as they feel more like themself and more comfortable in their body. It’s beautiful to see their growth, and we’re happy to be able to witness it.
