In April 2020, we are “bringing it home!!!” The seventh edition of Gidifest, themed “Bringing it home,” will be the first multi-day edition holding from April 9 – 11 at the Cricket pitch, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos. Rema, Flavour, and Naira Marley, have been announced as the headline acts for the 2020 edition of the Gidi Culture Festival.
Teenage star, Rema, is regarded as one of the most important faces of a new generation of Nigerian musicians and he would headline the first day of the concert tagged “The Hangout.” On day two,10th of April, Highlife king, Flavour, will grace the stage during the “Rhythm & Soul day”; Flavour is expected to give a signature performance that taps into his vast experience as an accomplished highlife star.
To round the festival up, Naira Marley will be making his Gidi Fest debut this year as he headlines Day 3: “Gbe Bodi e.” Gidi Culture Festival and Eclipse Live Co-Founder, Chin Okeke, think that this will be the most exciting cultural celebration yet. “2020 is all about bringing it home, whilst also throwing the most global cultural celebration for the Gidi Tribe yet,” he says, A new venue, and 2 extra days, and so much exciting and important music, art, food and games to share. It’s been a rewarding 7-year journey so far and everything just keeps growing year on year, to now be considered the biggest and most long-standing festival in the region is an incredible achievement. We can’t wait to welcome more new people to Lagos than ever before, showcase the best creative artists in Africa, and show our thriving hometown of Lagos to the world during Lagos Music Week.” Gidifest just keeps getting better with quality as the years roll by and who knows how the subsequent ones would play out. It’s an event to look forward to.
