Qing Madi has returned with a new record, released yesterday via Sony Music, according to the emerging creative the song is a tribute titled “Journey” for late Nigerian singer Mohbad who passed away on September 12, 2023. She wrote it based on her realization that no one is immortal, even those who have done good.
Madi is a 17-year-old Nigerian singer, songwriter, and entertainer. She was heavily influenced by her cultural background and the lyrical arrangements of Kendrick Lamar. Qing Madi was primarily raised by her mother, a former singer and dancer, alongside her siblings. She got her professional start by competing in school talent shows as well as singing in church. Her breakthrough came in September of 2022 when she secured a record deal with Columbia Records/BuVision. She is currently working on her debut EP, and she released the single “WHY,” which was inspired by disappointing reflections with her secondary school classmates.
