Odunsi The Engine Taps Alté Friends (Amaarae, Deto Black & Gigi Atlantis) To Deliver In An 80’s Centered Trap Offering, “Body Count”

Since the self-acclaimed King of Alté music’s debut album “Rare.” fans have been waiting for a follow up. Nigerian popstar, Odunsi is here with a new EP titled, Everything You Heard Is True. “Body Count” is the 6th song on the EP and it features Amaarae, DETO BLACK, and Gigi Atlantis. The record was produced by Odunsi himself.

Odunsi made a very groovy club-trap instrumental with trap drum patterns and RnB melodies. The song started with the trap drums and the vocals of Gigi Atlantis humming the chorus of the song repeatedly. The beginning of the song was already catchy and so groovy and it was probably a nice idea to start the song with the chorus/hook rather than going the regular way of fixing in an introduction. Well, Odunsi is best known for his innovativeness. Then comes Amaarae’s unique vocals for the first verse. It gets me everytime I hear her whisper in falsetto. I guess can never fully comprehend alté music. How does one do that? Her vocal dexterity and timbre will always stand out on any record she is featured on. DETO BLACK added the perfect trap verse to end the record.

This song could fit into a club playlist, sex playlist, or a workout playlist. One could easily be mistaken that Missy Elliott found her way to the track somehow. One thing is certain, be ready to break a sweat when this song comes on.
