Audiomack’s “Rising Star Challenge” has produced winners of its second edition. It was held in collaboration with Afrochella and was designed to create a platform of exposure and experience for up and coming African artistes to submit this portfolios and archived records for a chance to be discovered by millions of people on the Audiomack platform, the winner is privileged to win a cash prize of $1,000 and a studio session at BBNZ live – one of Ghana’s leading entertainment and artist management agency.
During the entry period of December 22nd, 2020 to January 2nd, 2021, over 300 entries were received from across the continent. Following this, 25 finalists were shortlisted from the vast pool of entries and included in a curated Audiomack playlist for the public to discover these emerging talents.
These submissions went through serious assessments by the very competent judges; Juls, King Promise and Olive Uche, Content Strategy Manager at Audiomack. Following evaluation from the judges, Jess ETA, a Nigerian producer, singer and songwriter emerged the winner. He obviously had so much to say but due to his win, he said “I am excited at this opportunity to my dream to life and I thank Audiomack and Afrochella for providing this platform to showcase my talent and take my music career to the next level.”
Audiomack continues to support the development of upcoming artists across Africa which would go a long way towards moving music forward in the region. Jess Eta won the competition after captivating so many hearts with his Afro-infused R&B, Pop, Rock and Soul. Emerging the first runner up was Headies, the Nigerian Afro pop singer and coming in as second runner up is the Cameroonian singer, Iguocho. “I’m just happy my entry won Audiomack’s Rising Star Challenge. I am at a place where I am experimenting and showing that everything sounds better with an Afro bend; Pop, R&B, Drill and even EDM. I’m generally excited to see what the future holds. Both for myself and afro influenced music in general.” The winner, Jess Eta said. With this win filling in as the best pedestal for this up and rising star, he is set to release his sophomore EP this year. The Nigerian singer seems to have a lot lined up for him, he has set the mark and is indeed an act to look out for.
