After months of anticipation, Ghanaian rap artist and musician M.Anifest has finally released his brand new album Madina To The Universe and it’s already being met with incredible reviews. The album pays homage to Madina, a popular suburb of Accra, Ghana where the singer grew up. The new album is a follow-up to M.Anifest 2020 effort The Gamble EP.
One song, in particular, is a big stand-out for fans.
Confusion, the emotive song details M.anifest experience and upbringing in Accra, Ghana.
No money dey but we all pray hard.
Even outlaws are down by law
No GPS but we all explore
No leftovers we eat all.
We’re instantly moved.
The truly devastating lyrics continue:
Blinded by the feeling of not knowing tomorrow.
Today’s sorrow got a n** feeling hollow.
The 15-tracks infectious bop features artists from Nigeria, Ghana, and Tanzania, the likes of Patoranking, Adekunle Gold, Ladipoe, Tiggs da Author, Mensa and Moliy, and Vic Mensa who helped to shape the album tracks.
According to M.anifest creating this full body of work was a painstaking journey. He further described the impact Madina had on him as a kid saying: “Madina is my ‘village’ within my city, a formative place for me as a child. Beyond memories, it is where my mom and grandma still live, alongside colorful people and places that shaped the window through which I see the world.”
