Fast-rising singer-songwriter and record producer Lojay, together with the multi-talented producer Sarz has released what is now being dubbed the Afro-Fusion EP of the summer. Released one month after the music video for the lead-single Tonongo premiered on YouTube, the 5-track Afro-Fusion themed body of work titled “LV N ATTN” has received positive criticism just days after it was released. Host to the hit track Tonongo, the EP also holds a collaborative single of the same name with the Grammy Award-winning Afrobeats artist Wizkid.
This partnership between Lojay and Sarz came into play a few months ago when the artist reached out to Sarz. Initially intended to be a one-track collaboration, Sarz later decided to turn it into an EP. It was this decision that led to a 3-month long Bootcamp, where they both sacrificed their time to bring this project to life, allowing their creative minds to take charge.
When speaking about the EP, Lojay mentioned that they drew inspiration from music from around the globe. He also added that he used it as a medium to express himself emotionally, channelling the feelings he had through his music.
In a quote from Sarz, he said, “Sonically this EP is refreshing and brings a unique twist to the afro scene. We both had creative freedom making the EP, and we hope you love it as much as we did create it.”
The Metallic Inc directed video for Tonongo vibrantly and aesthetically visualized the calm and relaxing tune the song carried. The visually soothing colours expertly displayed in the video and the not so over-the-top performance by the dancers made it possible for viewers to not only enjoy watching but also to reflect on the lyrics as they enjoyed the music.
From the first track to the fifth, LV N ATTN attains a level of musical diversity that appeals to listeners. Each song varies uniquely from tempo to musical style and even down to the message they portray. Regardless, each track followed the emotion-filled blueprint intended by Lojay. The EP is an artistic outlet for the artist as it allowed him to embrace the vulnerability that comes with dealing with a broken heart.
LV N ATTN is currently available on various streaming platforms, and the visuals for Tonongo is available on YouTube.
