Kelly Rowland is back on the scene once again with fiery visuals for her sultry new song “Hitman.” The track has hints of African and Caribbean vibes, namely to the Fela Kuti sample (“Follow Follow”) and dancehall tones. The song is part of the NFL’’s Song of the Season initiative, which highlights both megastars and emerging artists of all genres and incorporates their music into game broadcasts throughout the season.
It’s a welcomed follow up to this year’s “Coffee” and “Crazy” and proved that Kelly has both the vocals and lyrics to run with the baddest, with an assist from her beloved “hitman.”
“It’s like, let me hit my hitman, need it one time / When I get him on the line say, “Beat it up” / He come to murdaaaa / He come to serve up / I just hit my hitman, know it’s all mine / He’ll be waitin’ outside, come beat it up,” she slays on the chorus.
The colorful video provides vibrant dancing and finds the Roc Nation artist surrounded by beautiful people of all shades of brown in plush settings. It’s eye and ear candy for the diasporic soul. Dive in.
