“Yummy” is R&Bieber’s first solo single release in over 4 years.
Justin Bieber has officially kicked off 2020 for pop heads with his new single “Yummy”, which is his first solo song and single in over four years.
The former teen heartthrob’s last single was “Purpose” from the album of the same name, which also contained incredible tracks such as “Sorry”, “What do you mean” and “Love Yourself”. The album was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 59th Grammy Awards.
Since then, Justin Bieber has featured in many hit
songs like the incredibly popular “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi. Bieber’s vocals on
the remix helped the latin song to prominence and it was a tune for a year and
some months on every playlist and chart. Bieber has also featured on songs like
DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You”, and the enigmatic DJ Khaled’s “I’m The One” track
from the “Grateful” album. Finally, fans of the Canadian singer can now add a
new one to their collection.
“Yummy” already has fans speculating that the song is about Bieber’s wife, Hailey Baldwin, with it’s
happy-go-lucky lyrics about a girl who he wants to run home to because “she’s
got that yummy-yum”. But the video which was released yesterday, fourth of
January, is missing the
model’s appearance.
The visuals to the bop were directed by Bardia Zeinali, famed for
working with stars such as Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen and Troye Sivan. The
video shows a pink-haired Bieber hosting a wild dinner party and having fun,
eating all kinds of food inspired by a 1960s dinner setting. As
the video draws to an end, Bardia tugs on our heartstrings as a younger Bieber is
revealed to be beneath a slice of cake, with the word “Yummy”.
Justin Bieber also released new merchandise in addition to
delivering the visuals to “Yummy” yesterday. The merch is already available
on popular shopping sites, but in limited supply. You can shop it here.
Justin Bieber reportedly has a new album in the works and “Yummy” could likely be the lead single from that project, his first in five years.
