Gabonese-Ghanaian artist Joy Makita is carving his name into the global music scene with the release of his vibrant new single, “Tout est carré.” The track, a smooth yet powerful blend of Afrobeats, amapiano, and R&B, marks the first taste of his ambitious debut trilogy project, Son Of The South. The first EP from the series, Mangolu, is set to drop later this year.
Makita, whose real name is a tribute to the legendary Gabonese warrior Nyonda Makita of the Barumbu clan, uses music as a tool of joy and resistance. His sound merges traditional African rhythms with genre-blending innovation—infusing hip-hop, dancehall, jazz, and even synthé rock. With lyrics delivered in both pidgin English and French, his multilingual flow bridges continents and cultures.
Born in Gabon, Joy was raised on an eclectic musical diet—icons like Michael Jackson, Mylène Farmer, R. Kelly, Boyz II Men, and Fat Joe filled his early playlists. As he matured, so did his musical tastes, expanding to embrace artists such as Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, 6lack, Nicki Minaj, and French rap heavyweights like Booba and Josman.
At 14, Makita relocated to Accra, Ghana, a move that deeply reconnected him to his African roots. Immersed in highlife and afrobeats, he drew inspiration from stars like Wizkid, Asake, Sarkodie, and the legendary Angélique Kidjo. This cross-cultural influence is now the heart of his sound.
Currently based in France, Joy Makita embodies what he calls “The Best of Both Worlds”—Africa and Europe, tradition and innovation, rhythm and rebellion. His name says it all: Joy stands for “Just Only You,” a personal mantra that underscores his commitment to authenticity and self-reliance.
With “Tout est carré,” Joy Makita isn’t just releasing a single—he’s making a statement. Africa’s past, present, and future flow through his music, and this is only the beginning.
What is your return/refund policy?
All sales are final. We do not accept fashion related returns or exchanges as many of our items are made on demand. We will however happily replace damaged, defective, or incorrect items. Any claims for misprinted/damaged/defective items must be submitted within 4 weeks after the product is received. If this applies to you please email us with your name, order number, and items for exchange/return via shop@lamboxtra.com.

Returns for product related issues must be initiated within 14 days of date that the item was received. Returned items will be replaced and sent back to you within 7-10 business days.

Complex media will not reimburse shipping charges, nor are we responsible for items returned prior to receiving authorization from an official agent.
All orders are shipped within 5-7 business days + (Transit time dependent upon shipping service chosen) Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.
International shipping recipients WILL be required to pay duties/taxes by their nation's customs in order to obtain possession of their shipment. This charge is determined by the recipient country's government. Complex assumes no liability for these charges, nor are we able to predetermine or estimate these fees ahead of time. They are calculated by customs upon arrival of the package. Complex cannot guarantee an arrival or delivery date, as the customs department can delay release of any package for any reason. It is recommended that you plan for at least 7 business days additional time to receive your shipment. This 7 business day buffer is not a guarantee of time-frame for the release of packages. These delays will vary depending on the nation of delivery, customs department policies and procedures in dealing with the type of product ordered.

If a tracking # is provided by the shipping carrier, we will update your order with the tracking information. Please note that some orders using 1st Class USPS mail will not have tracking numbers.
The rate charged for the shipping of your order is based on the weight of your products, and your location. Before the final checkout page you will be shown your shipping options (if applicable) and what the cost of shipping will be for each option.
For orders shipping to any address in the United States, standard shipping which has a business day transit time. Both of these transit times are from when the order leaves our production facility which can take up to business days.
For international orders we currently only offer standard shipping. Transit time is 10-14 business days for Canada and rest of the world.
