John Ighodaro (bornJuly 5, 1990), professionally known as Johnny Drille, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. His career came into the spotlight when he released a cover of “Awww” by Di’Ja and since then Johnny had succeeded in taking us to cloud 9 and back with his awe inspiring tracks released time after time. Johnny seems to be changing the Nigerian musical narrative one note at a time.
Although, after a long period of silence, talented Mavin’s singer, Johnny Drille finally released a new track with the aim to reduce the current fear of the Covid-19 outbreak, this one he titled, ‘Something Better’. The unique Afro-jazz sound was produced by Sigag Lauren.
This might be probably the best time to play this, If you are in search of a song to add to your quarantine playlist, this might be it. ‘Something better; is that song you rock with your lover, maybe better behind closed doors, lol. The cool Afro-Jazz song starts with soft melodies, a conversation between two ladies describing Johnny as a player, Johnny vocals and the old school jazz drum sequence. The vocal delivery, instrumental, lyrics and production is excellent.
