Wati is redefining the art of gospel music in Nigeria. She has traveled around her country and beyond, leaving her mark everywhere, sharing big stages with other prominent gospel artists. Since she won best Gospel artiste of the year at South-South Music Awards which was held in November 2017, her fame has indelibly spread abroad.
Amidst several other achievements attained by the female singer, getting several awards and nominations, her songs have also featured on Cobhams Asuquo’s top ten countdowns. Born Omozuwati Ehidiamen, she is a singer-songwriter and performing artiste who has clocked up several victories in her musical journey. Some of her notable songs would include – “Who You Are,” “Abeg,” “I Am Grateful,” “I See Say,” among others. The singer is set to release her debut album before the end of this year.

How can you describe yourself?
I am Wati, born of the spirit, an ambassador for Christ and I’m so honored to be doing the work of God through the unique voice he has endowed me with.
What makes your sound different?
Do I really have a different sound? But then, I am glad that I’m able to reach out to people with this awesome gift that God has placed in me. And yes, I put in a lot of work into my craft, hence the reason people feel that uniqueness in my sound.
What events in your life shaped your personality?
Possessing the Life of Christ and knowing more about Him through the written word shaped my personality. Just as the Bible says in 2Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory,
“Who You Are” is really soul-stirring. What inspired that release?
Who you are is one song that constantly resonated in my spirit and I decided to put the lyrics together, the rest is history.
Who are your major influences and inspirations?
I had a couple of amazing singers who influenced me while growing up… The likes of MARY MARY, ASA, and a few others. But talking about inspires me, I completely give it to The Holy Spirit.
How did your childhood shape the kind of person you’ve become?
Growing up in a Christian home, the kind of people I was surrounded with back then, and yes church played a major role as well.
Which artist do you look forward to working with in the nearest future?
I’ll love to work with Minister Ada Ehi and a few other amazing music ministers currently rocking the world platforms.
In what ways has your music impacted lives?
Well, my music is loaded with the undiluted Gospel of Christ and the Gospel as we all know is meant to impact lives. Also, the response, messages, and testimonies I receive on a daily basis are a confirmation that my music is impacting lives.
What major challenges have you faced on this path?
I can’t really say I have faced serious challenges except for the fact that I always desire to reach out to more people around the world with my music. But I just believe that I am working at the pace of God, the Holy Spirit is taking me a step at a time, and gradually we will get there.
What new projects should your fans expect from you?
I am preparing to release the Live recording version of “Who You Are” and then an ALBUM will follow before the end of 2021.
