Your new song with Blaqbonez is awesome, how are you feeling about putting it out there?
Thank you. Glad you all appreciate it. It’s a record I totally love, the reception has been great, so yea I am excited.
“REBEL” is your come back single, what made you choose it?
REBEL! Wanted a statement single! It’s different and if I didn’t record that song and I heard it jamming on radio, I would definitely SHAZAM that! It’s hard, I wanted something to turn heads, and that was hit!
You’re obviously back with different songs on your line-up now. How was that readjustment?
Lol, I wasn’t able to show off my strengths and diversity back then.. I’ve always had it in me. I dropped a rap song as my debut single back when I started off with Capital Records, but rap wasn’t all I had to offer. I was a bit caged up back then in the regards music genre. I was young, naive, and just finding balance. Now I’m more mature, I have studied the industry to an extent and I really just want to give it my all…. I want to be heard!
So, when did you start working on Rebel the EP?
REBEL THE EP. I started working on it in November 2021, it is 80% ready. Being away for a while, I never stopped recording! But I wanted a fresh approach for the EP, so yeah November last year.
Obviously, it’s your debut EP. How are things different this time?
I decide what I want to put out, as an independent artiste. I’m definitely thinking big this time, no restrictions, just putting out badass music. It’s tougher now, dynamics have changed, it’s a lot of amazing talents out there, so I know to make it, you need to stand out! I put my all into that project and I can’t wait to put it out.
What can you tell me about it?
It’s fresh, it’s unexpected and HARD!! Like I said, No limits, so I’m going all out. The video for REBEL is in the works, so that sets the tone up for what’s to be expected. You hear REBEL THE EP, you think BAD ASS!
Influences and inspiration-wise, did you draw on anything in particular for this album?
Definitely, I’m inspired by a lot of artistes, I listen to a lot of African sounds. The game is different and nothing is off limits! Females are popping off doing their thing, it’s inspiring! That makes me want to do more, put out amazing music.
What are you most excited for?
Making music, collaborations with artistes/producers I’ve admired.. the entire journey to the top! I’m ready. I actually enjoy the process, as tough as it may seem, I learn every day and get better at what I love to do.
What is next for you?
Video for REBEL, My EP, next Tesh Carter is a Nigerian talented female rapper and Afro-reggae songbird, who has built immersive experiences in music with her beautiful rhythm with a sound that moves people in body and spirit in an immediate, powerful way that Reggae is known for.
