In 2019 Falz released Moral Instruction, an album recorded
in Nigerian pidgin in which the committed rapper directly addresses various
social issues facing Nigeria. This without a doubt announced the GOAT attribute
embedded in the young rapper. Lawyer turn rapper and actor, FalzTheBahdGuy is
not in any way slowing down as he has taken the world by storm again in his Instagram
dominated track which had both the young and old partake in the now called
“brush challenge”.
Falz linking up with Southeast London rapper, Ms. Banks on
this track was the best decision he could have made for ” Bop Daddy”.
Both artists vocals on this song were matured. The mid-tempo song starts with
an Afro-house drum sequence, a bass synth, and vocals from both artists. Falz
was quite serious on this track, we expected his usual comic and sarcastic
lines, but he surprised us with something groovy. Falz showed us another side
to his music in this track, Ms. Banks delivery was matured and straight to the
point with some Nigerian English and slangs.
In different times and ruled by the surrounding climate,
we’ve seen Falz take on the role of a lover boy, a battle warrior at war with
the government, a comedian among other acclaimed personas. 2020 has shown us
that musicians can be as creative as they claim and by keying his earlier
released hit, Bop Daddy into the sphere of social media challenges, a ticket to
prevalence worldwide, Falz proved to be even more creative than we’ll normally
ascribe to him. While the Chillz produced single continues to enjoy generous
airplay with an Audiomack feat, he ups its relevance with a colorful video.
Teamed up with his colorfully clad army of muses against awe inspiring backdrops, the comedic but heady portrayal of Falz’s character fits with his bass-driven narrative. Ms Banks then came on the scene to bring a sense of sensuality to it. They make a good team.
