A year after his debut album Boo Of The Booless was released, Nigerian singer-songwriter and former contestant/finalist of The Voice Nigeria, Chike, releases the visuals to the biggest hit on the project, Roju.
Dubbed the wedding song of the year 2020, Roju quickly became a fan favourite, replacing Ada Ada, the 2012 hit track by Highlife/Afrobeats musician Flavour N’Abania, as the go-to song used to celebrate Igbankwu, the Igbo traditional wedding rights. As the popularity for the track grew, so did the comparison with Ada Ada, and more fans appealed to the singer to collaborate with the veteran musician on a remix.
With the aim to celebrate enduring love and diverse cultures, the visuals for Roju can be described as multicultural, as it beautifully showcases the traditional marriage celebration of a vast number of tribes in Nigeria, from the Igbos, the Yorubas, the Hausas and the Fulanis. Directed by Pink for Pinkline Films, the video which first premiered exclusively on Trace Naija is now available on YouTube.
