The long awaited and much anticipated “Brown Skin Girl” video by the world famous Queen Bee, Beyoncé has just been released to be streamed on various social platforms. The video features appearances from her daughter Blue Ivy and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, along with Naomi Campbell, actor Lupita Nyong’o, singers Saint Jhn and WizKid and others.
The video was aired for the first time on Monday morning on the show “Good Morning America.” While Beyonce released a video for the song last year, at the time of its initial release on her companion album to “The Lion King” film, the new video is from her “Black Is King” visual album based on the music from the film. In a brief statement to “GMA” about the video, Beyonce said, “It was so important to me in ‘Brown Skin Girl’ that we represented all different shades of brown. We wanted every character to be shot in a regal light … It was important that we are all in this together and we’re all celebrating each other.”
Dedicated to her 3-year-old son, Sir Carter, Beyoncé’s “Black Is King” debuted last month on Disney+ to a rave reception from critics and fans about a year after the live-action “Lion King”. With her new visual album, “Black Is King,” the singer carefully creates a beautiful mash-up of sight and sound honoring the Black diaspora and values while weaving a collection of vibrant, profound and expletively creative scenarios into one abstract and rather convincing narrative. Within hours of its YouTube release, the video for “Brown Skin Girl” featuring the vocals of Blue Ivy, SAINt JHN and WizKid has already amassed more than 2.5 million views. Stream the video below
