Ambassador Prayer Pemu, the Special Assistant (SA) on Entertainment to the Delta State Governor, recently met with Tega Oghenejobo, the newly appointed President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mavin Records, at the label’s Lagos headquarters. The meeting focused on fostering a stronger partnership between Mavin Records and Delta State’s entertainment industry.
Mavin Records, home to Afrobeat superstar Rema, has been a driving force in shaping contemporary African music. With its strategic partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG), the label continues to expand its influence on a global scale. Given Delta State’s deep-rooted contributions to Nigeria’s creative industry, Amb. Prayer Pemu’s visit underscored the state government’s commitment to positioning Delta as a major entertainment hub.
During the meeting, Amb. Prayer Pemu personally extended the Delta State Governor’s appreciation to Tega Oghenejobo for Mavin Records’ contributions to the growth of Nigerian music. He also highlighted the importance of deeper collaboration between the label and Delta State, particularly in talent development and positioning the region’s artists for global recognition.
In response, Tega Oghenejobo expressed his gratitude to Hon. Prayer Pemu and the Delta State government for their support of the entertainment industry. He acknowledged Delta State’s rich creative talent pool and emphasized Mavin Records’ dedication to nurturing emerging artists. He further assured that, under his leadership, Mavin Records remains committed to fostering industry partnerships that empower the next generation of artists and music professionals.
The discussions also explored potential opportunities for Mavin Records to play a more active role in Delta State’s creative ecosystem, from mentorship programs to talent scouting initiatives. With the support of both the state government and key industry players like Mavin, Delta’s entertainment sector is poised for greater visibility and success on the global stage.
This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening the bridge between the Delta State government and Nigeria’s leading music labels, ensuring more opportunities for creatives to thrive.
