Afro-Fusion artist Adekunle Gold has just released his new single entitled “Sinner” featuring America RnB singer and songwriter Lucky Daye. He announced the collaboration on his social media account one week before its release.
Adekunle’s successful transition from a staunch Afrobeats/Fuji musician to a more versatile act is one that astonished his fans as many realized just how difficult it is to accomplish such a feat. His recently released songs not only peaked at the top of the charts but also stay there for weeks while amassing thousands of streams and enjoying hours of airplay. The switch in his artistry and the evolution of his music proved just how diverse he truly is and helped him attain a wider audience.
Following the Afrobeats blueprint, Sinner can be tagged as a romantic song. In it, Adekunle appraises the love he has for his lover and the intensity of that love, calling it his greatest sin in the first line. In the chorus, Adekunle reveals that he can do whatever he can to make her his. He uses the second verse to speak about the effect his lover has on him. His line “If I can’t have you, nobody can” proves just intense and borderline obsessive his feelings are.
While Lucky Daye’s verse is a bit shorter than the previous ones, he doesn’t take the opportunity to add his own subtle RnB twist to the project for granted. His vocals blend perfectly with the soothing and blissful aura the song gives off.
